Use of skin fish from the Italian market as raw material in alternative sectors such fashion, including clothes, footwear, bags production as substitute of leather.
Description:
The project has deal with the evaluation and testing of skin fish from the Italian market as raw material in alternative sectors such fashion, including clothes, footwear, bags production as substitute of leather. The project identified the most promising fish species to this aim, defined technical and operational details to obtain skin fish able to be tanned, and involved several small-scale companies in the production of original prototypes for a potential commercial exploitation. Therefore, the main objectives of the project were:
1 – identifying of the most suitable fish species
2 – defining of technical and operational aspects for the collection and storage of waste/raw material (fish skin)
3 – creating a sampling of tanned fish skin
4 – making of different prototypes
5 – searching of companies potentially interested in a commercial-scale production
6 – identifying the most promising products to exploit fish skin
7 – informing/disseminating stakeholders of the obtained results and opportunities
