Aquatic Biologicals is developing sustainable and alternative methods to replace inorganic antibiotic and disinfectant products in aquaculture for preventing or treating bacterial diseases. The main approach involves creating autogenous vaccines, which are made by isolating and using bacteria that cause diseases in aquaculture species. This helps reduce the spread of diseases and build immunity against specific strains. Another method is isolating, characterizing, and propagating bacteriophages to control pathogenic bacteria in aquaculture systems. Phage therapy is used as a natural remedy to fight bacterial infections of species or as a non-chemical method to manage water microbiome in aquaculture systems. Aquatic Biologicals not only provides products to aquaculture companies but also works closely with producers to create customized solutions.
Autogenous vaccines are a well-established technology, reaching TRL9, and are already exist on the market.

Phage therapy has made significant progress, reaching a highly advanced stage. However, its use is currently limited to experimental-scale applications.

In theory, the solutions have global applicability. However, the company’s business strategy aligns with the expertise of its staff and focuses on the Mediterranean region. Currently, the company has agreements and customers in EU countries, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco.
