Brief description of the practice:
Tokenisation system for the carbon footprint offsetting in aquaculture and fisheries practices through blockchain tools in order to bring low carbon practices in the fisheries and aquaculture sector and be able to apply the benefits generated to new marine conservation and awareness projects in compliance with current polluter pays laws.

Milestones
Promoting sustainable maritime transport: Study of alternatives for more sustainable and efficient vessels. TOKENCO2 applies blockchain to develop a decentralised and automatic carbon footprint compensation system for maritime activities. It also includes a DSS tool to manage CO2 emissions through tokenisation and activity measurement.

Development of advanced fisheries management systems: Development and testing of digital solutions for managing CO2 emissions in fishing vessels, aquaculture and maritime transport, adding value to the activity and environmental sustainability in marine areas. An evaluation protocol will be developed and university-business-society collaboration will be encouraged to facilitate its implementation.
